MOVEit DMZ

At the heart of the MOVEit© family is the MOVEit DMZ managed file transfer server which is used for the secure encrypted transfer and storage of sensitive data. MOVEit DMZ can help improve productivity and collaboration between employees, partners and customers by enabling the quick, easy, and secure exchange of sensitive business data via encrypted messages as well as by file transfers without buying user licenses, installing client software, managing encryption keys, burdening email systems with files, or allowing email attachments through firewalls.

MOVEit DMZ resides on a secure server in a "de-militarized zone" (DMZ) attached to your firewall. This enables it to be accessed through the firewall from both inside and outside of your network for the following transfers.

• End-User-to-Backend-System
• Backend-System-to-Backend-System

MOVEit DMZ can be used by any of a wide variety of clients typically used on or native to desktops/laptops, UNIX/Linux and Windows servers, and IBM mainframes.

MOVEit DMZ was designed from the beginning to be a security solution and to support a wide variety of popular public protocols and standards. It is not an FTP server with security features added-on, nor is it a proprietary secure file transfer program with open standards support grafted-on.

In addition to supporting cryptographically valid SHA-1 file integrity checking, on-the-fly data compression, automatic resumption of interrupted transfers, and NAT-Friendly FTPS, MOVEit DMZ server offers an extensive set of enterprise-level features that provide licensees with advanced integration capabilities and operational flexibility.

MOVEit CENTRAL

MOVEit Central is a powerful enterprise-level automated file transfer management system. Its purpose is to automatically "pull, process and push" files on a scheduled, event-driven or on-demand basis between a wide variety of internal and external computer systems, including MOVEit DMZ servers. This is done using easy-to-create tasks (no programming). Each task can handle multiple files, types, sizes, sources and destinations -- as well as utilise multiple transfer protocols. Central tasks can also be used to do synchronisation of files and folders on separate systems. Tasks can also automatically process files during transfer. This is done using numerous built-in functions (including a comprehensive, commercially licensed OpenPGP option) and also with sample and custom VBS scripts.

Developers, scripts and third-party programs such as job schedulers, workflow, document management and others can control Central file transfer and processing capabilities using the MOVEit Central API interface option.

MOVEit Central can easily run multiple, simultaneous tasks to move files between a wide variety of systems, including:

• Internal Network-based systems, such as your mainframe and mid-range systems, as well as application, email, file and Web servers.
• Local DMZ-Segment-based systems such as your MOVEit DMZ or other secure file transfer servers.
• Remote Internet-accessible systems, such as FTP, secure FTP, and MOVEit DMZ servers at your field offices or customer and business partner locations.

MOVEit Central tasks can also process files using built-in functions and options as well as with custom VBS scripts. MOVEit Central can automatically take the following actions if one of these products detects a virus in a file that it just downloaded or is about to upload: Stop the transfer; Delete the original infected file on the source system or remember the file characteristics and never transfer it again; Log the name of the file, virus, and AV software as well as the date/time the virus was detected and what MOVEit Central did about the file; and Alert administrators via email.

MOVEit Central is configured, controlled, and monitored in real-time by MOVEit Central Admin - a Windows program that is bundled with MOVEit Central at no extra charge.
